Morgantina began to mint its own coins in the second quarter of the fifth c. BCE. Coins of many cities were in circulation in the city as well. Coins with the legend Hispanorum were crucial in proving the identity of the site as Morgantina.

The second volume of Morgantina Studies (out of print, but available secondhand)  is by  T. V. Buttrey, K. Erim, T. Groves and R. Ross Holloway, Morgantina Studies II. The Coins (Princeton, 1989). Studies continue and of course many more coins have been found in the past 25 years.
